This two-day introductory technical training course offers GIS users in the field of coastal resource management an opportunity to understand remote sensing techniques by providing hands-on computer training. By the end of the course, attendees will:
- Understand how remotely sensed data can be used to address coastal resource management issues
- Be aware of the benefits and limitations of remote sensing
- Use remote sensing data in a GIS environment
Students will use remote sensing techniques, in combination withspatial data, to investigate issues such as land cover and use, shoreline change, and fisheries and benthic habitat assessment. Familiarity with ArcGISis required. This course is from the training curriculum developed by the NOAA Coastal Services Center.
